Yup, the water is cold at Tremont

We took a quick trip into the park today to take a look around. It was 17 degrees on our porch this morning and colder than that further into the Smokies. There’s not much snow on the ground along the streams, but you can see it on the tops of the mountains.

There’s still 5″ of snow on Mount LeConte. That’s a pretty good indication that there’s at least 3-4″ along the main ridge line of the Smokies. Weather will warm over the next few days, but we expect the water to remain very cold for at least a couple of days.

Temperatures are forecast to warm through the 60′s and even make it into the 70′s by the weekend.
